PVCICS students love to read, and our goal is to continue to foster and support that interest with a variety of events and programs. These include:

  • Annual Battle of the Books reading and trivia competition for 3rd-5th grade students

  • Annual middle school Battle of the Books program (spring semester)

  • December 4 book fair at Barnes & Noble in Hadley - paired with a dinner fundraiser at neighboring Panera Bread. All proceeds from these fundraisers will go toward purchasing new books for our collection.

  • December 5 author visit for elementary school students: Marla B Brodsky author of Our Serum Run Story

  • Student book reviews 

  • Devoted Dragon stewardship of the library

  • Our annual library fundraiser is taking place at Barnes & Noble and Panera on Thursday, December 4. See the details above.

  • The Community Time team has arranged for author Marla B Brodsky to come to talk with K-5 students about her book: Our Serum Run Story. This is the tale of the Hilltown Sleddogs’ journey across North America to Alaska, and then their 750 mile race across the frozen Yukon River and the Bering Sea.

January 2026 News:

  • Our Middle School division of the Battle of the Books starts.

March 2026 News:

  • Grades 3-5 Battle of the Books tournament begins.

April 2026 News:

  • April 3rd: 3-5 division Battle of the Books final championship battle.

  • April 11th: elementary school Battle of the Books regional championship.

May 2026 News:

  • Middle school Battle of the Books tournament takes place.

  • May 2: Free event: Kids Graphic Novel Festival at the Silver Unicorn Bookstore in Acton, MA.

June 2026 News:

  • Our annual get-read-for-summer-reading book swap will take place on June 8th!
