Curbside Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures 2026-2027

These procedures are for parents/guardians driving their student(s) to school. The procedures are divided into rules that apply to both of PVCICS’s school sites and into rules specific to each site. These procedures are subject to change especially if we need to make changes to improve traffic flow and safety.
Rules for Both School Sites
All drivers dropping off or picking up students at PVCICS must adhere to these Curbside Drop-off and Pick-up procedures. These procedures emphasize safety in our parking lots and focus on getting students safely into and out of the school buildings. These procedures also respond to requirements set by the Town of Hadley. We need everyone to support these procedures. Key points and details specific to morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal are below:
· Please use carpools, busing or other eco-friendly transportation if possible.
· Drivers should not plan to enter the school during Pick-up and Drop-off. Please visit the office during off peak hours (after 8:35 AM or 15 minutes after building dismissal at 3:40 PM or 4:15 PM).
· Parking Lot Speed Limit: 5 MPH ALL TIMES
· Handicap parking spaces are for cars with valid handicap permits only.
· DOUBLE PARKING along the front curb is not allowed! All cars should be parked legally in parking spots.
· No U-turns are allowed in the parking lot. All traffic must follow the flow of the traffic and any marked arrows/signage guiding the flow of traffic.
· Children must exit and enter cars on the curbside when dropping off or picking up.
· In the morning, students need to arrive between 8:10 and 8:25 AM. There is no supervision of students prior to 8:10 AM. Students may not enter the building prior to 8:10 AM. Parents are responsible for supervising their students prior to 8:10 AM. Classes start at 8:30 AM and attendance is taken at 8:30 AM in class.
317 Russell Street (Rt. 9) Site Procedures
· There is no supervision of students prior to 8:10 AM but students in grades 6-12 may wait in the playground. If parents want 2nd-5th grade younger siblings to be supervised by their 6-12th grade sibling that is parent’s choice.
· There is no pedestrian access to the mall next door due to a fence owned by the mall. Mall parking is for Mall business and should not be used by PVCICS parents for drop off or pick up
Morning Curbside Drop-off at 317 Russell Street (Rt. 9)
Morning curbside drop-off is mandatory for all drivers except if you have a serious emergency that warrants entry into the building. Please do not park to drop off paperwork or other items during drop-off….please plan to do these types of activities after 8:35 AM.
The front of the school (Drop A) is for bus drop off and for parents dropping off 2nd-4th grade students. If there are buses present in front, drivers for 2nd-4th graders should stay behind the buses while they unload. All other parents should stay on the left side of the orange barriers in front of the school and proceed to their drop-off location at the rear of the building.
5th-12th graders must be dropped off in the rear of the building at playground Drop B along the fence.
If you have children in both Drop A and B grades, please use the DROP B lane since it allows a longer area for cars to queue. Students at DROP B are to enter as follows:
5th graders through the doors closer to the basketball court.
6th-12th through the new building pavilion doors.
Note: if you are using Drop B for 2nd-4th grade siblings , then they should enter with their older 5th-12th grade sibling at the older sibling’s entrance door. Each student should then walk to their respective classrooms.
Late students arriving at 8:30 or later must enter through the front doors and report to the office for a tardy slip.
Afternoon Pickup at 317 Russell Street
Afternoon curbside pick-up is mandatory for all drivers except if you have a scheduled visit or a serious emergency. Do not plan to park during dismissal to drop off paperwork or other items during pick-up.
All students will wait in the asphalt section of the playground for curbside pick-up. Parents should pull up to pick up their child. If their child is not immediately available they will be asked to move to make space for the pick-up of students who are present. Once dismissed from school, students are under parent/guardian supervision.
Regular Dismissal Pickup at 317 Russell Street:.
· 2nd -12th grade pickup at 317 Russell Street – do not arrive before 3:55 pm for regular dismissal. Regular dismissal is at the rear playground.
All 2nd-5th grade students who are picked up via the carline will be escorted outside to the rear lot (“Drop B”) at the scheduled times below. 6-12th grade students who are picked up via the carline may dismiss themselves and proceed to the Drop B location. Staff will be on duty through dismissal. Once dismissed, students are under parental supervision.
PVCICS Drop B car pick up times:
· 4:00 PM - for 2nd through 12th grade pickup car line at the playground.
Early dismissal pickup at 317 Russell Street:
Parents requesting early dismissal must log these requests in School Dismissal Manager (https://schooldismissalmanager.com/ ) by 12:00 pm that day and adhere to the following rules to prevent traffic jams:
· 2nd-12th graders – early pickup at 317 Russell Street is before 3:15 pm from the front office.
· There is no early pickup from 3:15-3:45 pm.

· In the morning, students in 2nd-4th graders will be dropped off at Drop A. In the morning, 5th-12th graders will be dropped off at Drop B.
· In the afternoon, registered bus students will board buses at Drop A and all car line students will wait at Drop B.
300 Venture Way Site Procedures
· There is no supervision of students prior to 8:10 AM. If parents arrive earlier than 8:10 AM, they must stay with their student outside or in their car until 8:10 AM.

· In the morning, K/1st students in the car line will be dropped off at the east side door. Bus students will be dropped off at the front door.
· In the afternoon, K/1st students in the car line will be picked up at the east side door. Registered bus students or YMCA after-school students will board the Campus Shuttle in the front of the building to go to 317 Russell Street.
